While  still a law student, John Parras had the immense opportunity to work  closely with the lawyers defending accused Oklahoma City Bombing suspect  Terry Nichols. Sharing in the meticulous preparation  and intense  courtroom proceedings of the most important criminal case of its time  had a profound impact that no amount of classroom learning could match.  John followed that up with another marquee trial, Houston's “City Hall  Bribery Case,” which resulted from an FBI sting on Houston's City  Council. The legal work and the courtroom experience he gathered while  working on these high-profile, high-stakes cases serve as the foundation  for John's career in criminal law.John's excellent work with  the “A-list” of Houston’s criminal defense bar led to an offer of  employment, when he finished law school, from DeGuerin & Dickson. As  an Associate at DeGuerin & Dickson for just under 10 years, John  honed his talents in state and federal courts, in trial and on appeal,  while under the guidance and mentoring of the firm's partners - Dick  DeGuerin, Lewis Dickson, and Matt Hennessy. John left DeGuerin &  Dickson in 2008 to start his own practice.
