Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire Welcome to the website of the Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ). This website provides access to the 36 available versions of the Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire, a widely used health status measure for low back pain. The RMDQ can be used in research or clinical practice. The original questionnaire and all translations are in the public domain. No permission is required for their use or reproduction. No charge should be made for their use. 36 translations and adaptations are available, including minor adaptations for US, Canadian and Australian English. Go the questionnaires Additional translations may be made in other languages. In doing so, a rigorous translation process should be used. For recommended approaches to translation, click here. The conditions for translating the RMDQ are that the translated questionnaire must be made available with details of the translation process without charge to Professor Martin Roland. Translations will normally be published on this website. There must be no restriction on the use of such translations, and no charge should be made for their use. The original version of the Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire was published by Roland and Morris in 19831. A review of papers on the questionnaire was published in 2000 2. Scoring the RMDQ. The RMDQ is scored by adding up the number of items checked by the patient. The score can therefore vary from 0 to 24. It is not recommended to give patients a ‘Yes’ / ‘No’ option. If patients indicate in any way that an item is not applicable to them, the item is scored ‘No’, i.e. the denominator remains 24. A substantial number of papers have been published on the psychometric properties, validity and reliability of the RMDQ.
