Welcome to Doug Burnett's Travelogues:
What could be better - a new city and plenty of time to explore.  
I love to just wander around with no particular place to be, taking each day as it 
comes.  Of course, travel is not always like that: some days you must rise early 
and run to catch the train; others you end up wandering around in the rain looking 
for a decent hotel.  But it's the hope that there will be something truly 
remarkable around the next corner that keeps me going.

New: 
Laos, Thailand & Malaysia, Jan/Feb 2011
Six weeks of winter avoidance: first to   
Luang Prabang followed by two weeks in Chiang Mai and ending in
Kuala Lumpur and Penang. Some emails from the road.

Kenya & Tanzania, August 2010
Finally a trip to Africa: I visited Masai Mara National Reserve 
with a short stay in Nairobi.  Next, I flew to Stone Town, Zanzibar, and ended in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Thailand & Laos, January 2010
This was another month-long getaway to Southeast Asia. I spent the first two weeks in Laos, in Vientiane and Luang Prabang, and the rest in Chiang Mai and Bangkok, Thailand.

Guatemala, December 2009
It happened quickly: a bump, a shove and my picture taking for this trip was over.  
It was a simple ploy and I think it was as much my fault as 
the people who stole my camera.  I simply wasn抰 being as cautions

Tibet, September 2009

A long dreamed of trip to the Roof of the World.
After 3 days in Lhasa and I took a road trip with my guide and driver to Shigatse,
stopping at Gyantse and Yamtso Lake on the return.

Tamil Nadu, India, January 2009
This was a month-long getaway to Thailand with 10 days in south India.  
I visited Madurai, Trichy and Mamallapuram before continuing on to northern Thailand.
