Baker Properties was founded in 1988 by Chester M. "Chet" Baker and Chester M. "Bubba" Baker, Jr. as a full service real estate company specializing in commercial development and brokerage.Baker Properties, with its 50 years combined experience in real estate and construction coordination,  can take a development from inception, market study, site selection, pre-development, governmental approval, re-zoning, subdivision, site plan approvals, permitting, construction coordinator, tenant coordinator, tenant lease up, opening, financing and long term management.  Our responsibilities can include all phases of development such as market analysis, site selection, budgeting, leasing, pre-development, architect and contractor selection, permitting, construction, billing, C.O.'s, and long term management.Chet Baker retried after 25 years as Chairman of the Board of The Mitchell Company and founded Baker Properties with his son, Bubba, in 1988.  During his tenure with The Mitchell Company, he was in charge of the Commercial Division and under his guidance developed more than 100 shopping centers throughout the Southeast.  The more notable landmarks along the Gulf Coast would have been the development of BelAir Mall in Mobile and the remodeling and expansion of the Edgewater Mall in Biloxi, Mississippi.Bubba Baker was Director of Commercial Construction of the Atlanta Division of Lincoln Property Company, one of the largest development companies in the nation, prior to joining Baker Properties in 1988.  His job description at Lincoln Property Company included:  working with leasing agents, tenants and architects; negotiating and selecting contractors and keeping them on budget and time; overseeing all tenant build-out in the existing office buildings, and completing those under construction.  New construction responsibilities included:  hiring architects; bidding out and selecting contractors; and overseeing to keep project in budget and on schedule.  Projects included two 5 and 6 story office buildings, a two story specialty retail center; Kroger/Kmart Community Shopping Center, strip shopping centers, and a 500,000 sq. ft. power center in Florida.Some of Baker Properties more recent South Alabama Developments would include the Super Target Store in Mobile; the Target Department Store in Daphne;  Home Depot Stores in Foley, Daphne, and West Mobile; and the Lowe's Store in Foley.
Recent Projects:Super Target - West Mobile, AlabamaA 175,000 sq. ft. Super Target with 40,000 square feet of adjoining specialty shop space with three major outparcels including a Sonny's Bar-B-Que Restaurant.Target - Daphne, AlabamaFreestanding Target in Daphne with Baker Properties keeping three outparcels.
