A Céad Mile Failte awaits from the Breathnach/Walsh Family at this award winning Heritage Centre located just 6km from Clifden on the N59 in Connemara. Martin & Nora and their family run a hill farm in the heart of Connemara. In 1992 they diversified into agri tourism and at the Heritage Centre the family share the history, heritage, culture & traditions of the Connemara. The farm has cattle, sheep and the world famous Connemara Ponies with a few friendly donkeys & chickens. The centre is based around the restored prefamine cottage of Dan O' Hara who was forced to emigrate in the 1840's when he was evicted from his home. The audio visual introduces Dan O' Hara's Story & the history of the area. The history & artefacts room has articles and displays on Connemara through the Ages and many items of historical and cultural interest. Other items of interest at the Centre include reconstructions of a crannog, ringfort & clochaun. Guided tours are available for groups by prior arrangement. Tours are entertaining & educational and offer demonstrations of traditional farming activities such as turf cutting, sheep herding, soda bread making on the open fire and other activities & games. Tours are suitable for student groups, school tours, active retired, coach tours, corporate or incentive groups Our restaurant is ideal for morning coffee, afternoon tea or lunch stops. There is also a craft shop, internet access & free parking available for coaches. Open April to October Off season by request for groups Daily 10am -6pm Last admission 5pm Self Guided Individual Admission Rates Adults €8.50 Children €4.25 Senior/Students €7.50 Family Ticket(2Adults + up to 4 Children) €22.00 Guided Tours available for groups.
