Stanford C. Finney December 20, 1948 ---March 13, 2010 After 61 years of a full life Stanford C. Finney passed away on Saturday March 13, 2010. Stan's earthly angel and wife of 23 years, Mary Clare, stood by his side along with his other beloved family members. Born on the 20th of December 1948, Stan was raised in Martinsville, VA and graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BSBA and MBA. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. An avid Razorback alumnus Stan routinely wore something red to show his enthusiasm for his alma mater. Stan's life was defined by his love for his family, his numerous friends and his devotion to our Lord Jesus Christ. As his cherished soul mate, Mary Clare was his touchstone, rock of Gibraltar and best friend. He and Mary Clare were true life partners. Everyone who knew them recognized their deep love for one another and their family. Their home was always filled with family, friends, laughter and love. He adored his six children and grandson. Among friends, when Stan's name was mentioned, the conversation always began something like this: "Stan is the greatest guy! Do you know what he did for me?" or "Stan gave me the best advice I ever had." Stan was a loving, caring, loyal, devoted person and friend to all. Lastly, his quiet walk with the Lord was extremely important to him. Through all relationships and circumstances his humility was revealed. As a father and uncle, he led by example. He encouraged his children, nieces and nephews to attend college and work hard. He nurtured his friendships through phone calls, sporting events, and travel adventures. Stan's life on earth was filled with great accomplishments that reflected a godly character. His friends and family were often captivated by his sense of humor and ability to tell a great story. He was known to laugh at his own jokes to the point of tears. Stan's frequent trips to Walmart and appreciation of a good deal definitely deserve an honorable mention. One could confidently say Stan was a "true fiscal conservative." Stan was a brilliant businessman, entrepreneur and risk taker. Stan started his career as a stockbroker with Eppler, Guerin & Turner. He then joined Shearson Lehman Brothers as a senior vice president, which later merged with Smith Barney. Stan was the number one producer, setting records within the company. In 1987 he founded Rainbow Trading Corporation, a registered commodity and pool advisor. Stan was a partner from 1997 through 2001 with Regal Asset Management while also serving as Chief Executive Officer of Spyglass Trading, which he founded in 1997. During his tenure at Shearson Lehman Brothers and Smith Barney, Stan was awarded the Director's Council Membership Outstanding Service award. Stan was an avid golfer and, as friends would tell you, an extremely competitive opponent. He was a member of numerous golf clubs in Texas and Colorado, but especially loved Preston Trails.
