It is designed to reach out to young people and their families and address the problems of substance abuse, teen pregnancy, delinquency, and school dropout. Initiated by the Healthy York County Coalition, Central York Communities That Care was formed in 1999. A prevention board made up of community members represents a wide range of areas including district residents, parents, students, local businesses, government officials, educators, ministers, social service and mental health providers, childcare providers, attorneys, and physicians.
