This is the day that the Lord has made...
Well, it's been almost a year, now...about time for some site updates.  The design has changed somewhat, since I decided to stay with this CMS and adapt it to my evolving needs, rather than  abandoning it for a simple hand-coded html page that stitched together a number of custom scripts or adopting a much simpler and more limited CMS in its place.I think this is going well, so far.  Let me know what you think of the changes!

...so you have heard, boys and girls, that geeks are some of the least comely and least fashionable individuals alive.  This is why they primarily play with computers and technology, rather than other people.  And they spend long hours coming up with impressive-looking pieces of software called "interfaces".  Thus, they are behind the scenes, not being seen themselves, and none the worse for it.  But occasionally, they show their own faces, as they did today. Let this be a lesson to us all.  Just as a fool may be thought wise if he holds his tongue, so also a webmin may be presumed to be at least average-looking, by definition, if (s)he keeps personal photos off the site in question.  Goodness...

There is a tide in the affairs of men...

Ever since I first read that line from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar in high school, it has fascinated me.  "There is a tide in the affairs of men, which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune; omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and miseries."
I don't like shallows, much less miseries.  There is the gleam of a change over the horizon.  Watch this space for details.
"I must go down to the sea again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying."

Update - On 2 May, 2005, Tim and I met at the house described in this post.  We proceeded to tear out the old fence and build a new one.  It was enjoyable, and a blessing to be able to help out.  Thanks go to Tim, and the invitation stands to anyone additional who would like to help next time, as we
