Home Home Desirability Desirability is an interesting term and the technical definition is someone who is thought to be worthy of being desired or who has the ability to attract the opposite sex. Of course in the year 2012 it may be that attracting the opposite sex isn't what you have in mind; perhaps you wish to be desirable to the same sex. Not only do non-heterosexual people have this wish, but really many women (and some men that would never admit it out loud) still on some level want to know that both the same and opposite sex finds them desirable. But how do we gauge desirability? Desirability can be applied to almost anything; the kind of job we want, the neighborhood we live in, the friends we socialize with and much more. Even our regularly watched television shows are based on how desirable the overall community finds them which is why so many are cancelled so quickly. Being coined "desirable" can do wonders for one's self esteem; after all who doesn't get a kick out of someone else thinking they are attractive, hot, sexy or whatever word you want to use. But it is a complex and complicated matter because human beings are so individualized and unique; therefore what is desirable to one person may not necessarily be so to another. Surely though, there must be a way to measure desirability? Otherwise how would be know what is and what is not desirable? Well one sure way to define something as desirable is to think about how you feel internally when you are faced with it. A quickened heartbeat, the inability to look away or the simple feelings of pleasure you experience when engaged with something desirable are all ways that it can be measured.
