    Diamond Formation
Diamonds were born in the throes of the Earth's creation at the heart of immense, continent-shaping volcanoes. The oldest diamonds are more than 3.2 billion years old. Hundreds of kilometres below the Earth's surface, pressures fifty thousand times the normal atmosphere, and temperatures of up to 1,300°C gave rise to their unique crystalline lattice structure.
Kimberlite, solidified volcanic magma, hides diamonds among its many other characteristic
    tracer minerals.
Diamonds form in molten rock under high pressure, 125 to 200km deep. Some rare diamonds
may originate even deeper - 300 to 400km below the Earth's surface.
Powerful eruptions force magma through the Earth's upper mantle toward the surface
at the speed of sound. The resulting cone-shaped kimberlite "pipe" can be
mined as a rich source of diamonds.
    DiamondExploration
The legendary rough and ready prospectors of old had a nose for diamonds. Today, our Exploration Team holds qualifications in geology, physics, geophysics, engineering, chemistry and biochemistry. They're equipped with the latest analytical equipment, tools and tests and supported by state of the art laboratories. And of course they still have that nose for diamonds.
Kimberlite core samples from Northern Canada can hold vital clues - traces of
indicator minerals or diamonds themselves, but only careful laboratory analysis
