Visit us at Petsmart Saturday's: 10825 N Tatum Blvd., Phoenix, 85028 Home Page Our Dogs Our Cats Happy Tails Information Contact Us Haven Animal Rescue Your Subtitle text Patience, Care, and Compassion Haven Animal Rescue is a nonprofit rescue group dedicated to reducing euthanasia of adoptable animals in shelters. Our hearts go out for the seniors and special needs animals as they are often overlooked and they are the first to be euthanized. We do not have a shelter, all of our animals live in foster homes with families. This allows us to observe the animals on a daily basis, get to know their personalities, their likes and dislikes, and most important, we know what type of home environment will be best for them. Are you considering adopting a pet? Before you make the important decision to adopt, ask yourself these questions: How many hours am I home? Will that be enough time to feed and exercise my new pet, in addition to my other activities? How many animals do I currently have? Can I reasonably expect to give enough attention to each one on a daily basis? Do I have new carpet or furniture? Will I be upset if they get ruined by chewing or housebreaking problems? (Puppies love to chew, and will happily chew furniture in addition to remote controls, electrical cords, and other expensive toys. Kittens and cats need to be trained what they are allowed to scratch versus not.) Do I make enough money to provide yearly vaccinations and two or three vet visits per year, assuming the dog or cat I adopt remains healthy? Can I provide quality food, chew toys, a bed, and other assorted necessities? (Most vet visits with vaccinations or medication run in the neighborhood of $60 to $100, but can quickly go even higher when there is a health problem.) Is my home situation stable? Am I willing to take on all responsibilities for the life of the pup, including special care as the dog ages? (Small dogs can easily live to be 18 years old!) These are not good times to bring a new pet into a home: Am I planning to move soon? Am I starting a new relationship or ending an old one? Am I expecting a [human] baby? Jesse's Story, Please HELP! Update: Jesse visited Dr. Kimmel yesterday (Feb. 27, 2012), he got his pin out and his cast off! He is feeling like a whole new puppy. He will need to start using his leg but should be good as new shortly. His flesh-eating bacteria is gone, finally he is on the path of a full recovery. He has been such a good boy and through it all is kennel trained! He moved into his own condo a couple of weeks ago and last night was able to have a playmate hang out with him. They played crazily. He has been on the outside looking at others play for over a month and was ready to take part in puppy play. Thank you to all who donated to his medical costs and although we didn't meet our goal we have a happy, healthy, little guy that will be ready for adoption in a few weeks. Jesse arrived at the Humane
