Thinking Quartz – Get EDUCATED and think again.

This link clearly explains the same information I’ve been telling people.  Quartz is a good product, there are positives (consistency) and negatives (staining, repairing, dealing with warranty issues).
I recommend you choose something based on what you like and not necessarily any performance differences.  And be aware that quartz is not bullet proof.
QUESTION:
I have a HanStone quartz counter top. Tea stains it. The manufacturer has told me to leave a soap/water solution to seep in and then clean it.
But I thought quartz is non porous and should not stain. Is there a sealer I should use for quartz? Some of the stains are not coming out. I bought quartz to avoid this very problem. Please advise?

YES QUARTZ STAINS

Try not to fall for all the hype about quartz.  Granite is just as good or better product.  Quartz marketers have tried to sell more quartz by exaggerating the amount of care necessary for granite.  Wash both with soap and water.  Take 10 minutes every 5 years to re-seal your granite.  Beyond that, choose something based on the colour and look you like and not performance.  See the link below – white and light quartz does stain.  We know because we’ve dealt with it.  Over 2000 granite installs and 1 or 2 complaints about a stain.  We’ve done 200 quartz countertops and had 5 or 6 issues.  You need to wipe your light quartz immediately after spilling red wine or Kool-aid or it will stain.
There is nothing inherently wrong with quartz, it is a good product.  But shop with all the information, not just the quartz manufacturers hype.  And NEVER use Hanstone if you value your money – they could leave you high and dry too.
