Hawai'i Marine Mammal Consortium Non-profit marine mammal research, education and conservation The Hawai‘i Marine Mammal Consortium (HMMC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based on the Big Island of Hawai'i. We conduct scientific research on Hawai‘i’s marine mammals and seek to provide high quality information to the local community as well as State and Federal marine resource agencies.HMMC has released a Poster of the Humpbacks of Hawai'i Read about our ongoing long-term research on humpback whale distribution and behavior in Kawaihae Bay. HMMC participated in SPLASH, 'Structure of Populations, Levels of Abundance and Status of Humpbacks'. It is a basin-wide study of the humpback population in the north Pacific. Data collection is completed and the analysis is underway. The HMMC is committed to outreach programs for students and the general public. Read about our ongoing outreach efforts.
