    Learn Photography Through Compositions
Posted on June 18, 2012 by Admin
With all the technical advancement, photography is ultimately the unfathomable art form. Its most essential aspect is composition. Great, known photographers improve their skills by finding a photo or photos they like and studied them. The next step is to ask yourself why you liked the photo. This is the best way to learn photography. Among the aspect of composition are: the Subject, Context, Subject Location, and Lines/Paths/Angles.
The Subject. First thing is to identify what the subject is. A person or an infrastructure is not a very good subject. Dig down deeper and try to specify. The shape or curve of the person’s body or the crumbling stone house can be better subjects. Something that activates your senses—touch, feel, smell, or taste. Something very realistic and confine. But before taking a photo, you must first visually explore your subject. The purpose and reaction of the viewer plays very vital part in photography.
The Context. A context adds relevance and contrast to the subject. You can add depth by finding a context in a spatial area than the subject. A great idea would be to add a person or fruit in the foreground, if the subject is a building.
The context is quintessential part of wedding photography business too. If you are able to do that, you can surely enhance value of images.
The Subject Location. The placement of your subject in the frame denotes its relevance. The center of the frame is the weakest. It makes the photo dull. It could mean that the subject is no value to the context. Moving the subject away from the center can bring more relevance to the context. Experiment until you get to the right place.
Lines/Paths/Angles. Use your imagination, by using real or imagined lines to create great pictures. These lines should lead to the viewers’ eye. The line need not to be very attractive, but needs to be catchy. Examples of obvious lines include railway tracks, rivers and fences. The lines can create much effect, for instance horizontal lines create peaceful view and diagonals are complex and intense. Yet, there are also curve lines which are active or sensuous.
A photo is for the eyes to explore. So provide a path of movement and give space for the eyes to rest. View this page
