The PPRTA Board and the Citizen Advisory Committee will hold a special joint meeting on April 9 at 3:00. IN THE NEWS: PPRTA is model for regional, national transportation funding. The PPRTA is a voter-approved transportation authority formed in 2004. The authority funds crucial transportation projects through a one-cent sales tax. In November 2012, nearly 80% of the voters of the region approved an extension of the capital portion of the RTA from 2015 through 2024. The RTA is a collaborative effort of five local governments working on a regional approach to addressing regional transportation issues: the cities of Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs, El Paso County, and the towns of Green Mountain Falls and Ramah. Funds raised by the RTA sales tax are used as follows: •55% for a specific list of capital projects •35% for maintenance projects •10% for metro transit Recent projects completed by the RTA, working in partnership with its member governments, include: • The Austin Bluffs interchange at Union Boulevard • Proby Parkway (South Metro Accessibility) • Woodmen Road widening and interchange at Academy Boulevard • Cimarron Street Bridge repair • Safety improvements at Academy and Fountain Blvds and at Academy Blvd. and Pikes Peak Ave. ©2013 Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments Last Updated: November 15, 2013 This website is intended as an information service.
