Without fail everytime I went round the horse racing was on tele and he was glued to the screen. I also noticed, he never won a penny. After betting for probably all of his adult life, my grandad never made a fortune. He obviously had the odd win, but nothing major, nothing life changing.It’s a well known fact that “the bookie always wins”. So, why not make yourself the bookie?! After some research, and asking my questions. I discovered www.betfair.com. The website that allows you to do just that.F BetFair is just a norming betting website with a twist. They allow you to “lay” on bets, this means you bet AGAINST something. For example you bet against a horse winning a race. Your probably a little confused right now, so was I, but bare with me. 90% of betfair’s customers go on the website to bet the normal usual way. However, their actually not betting against betfair, their betting against other people. The pick the horse, they pick the odds. Then you go onto the website, picks a horse and chooses the odds you want, based on the payout and liability. You then bet that the horse will NOT win. If the horse wins, they pay out. if the horse was 10/1 and the bet is £2 you payout £20. But if the horse looses. The you keep the £2. This doesn’t seem like a lot of money. But if you base it on this fact it makes more sense to bet this way. If there is 10 horses in a race there is a 1 in 10 chance your horse will win. But there is a 9 in 1 chance it will lose. Which makes it 9 times more likely that you will win money if you bet on it losing. All this seems very appealing to me. So, I signed up, placed my first bet and now I just wait. The bet is: Awzaan in the 14:00 meet at haydock park. Liability: £7.00. Payout £9.00. Ill let you know tomorrow how it goes. Remember if the horse doesn’t win the race, I win.
