An audio recording of Rainey's funeral service from Sunday, June 23rd is available at this link: Rainey's Service Michael Swenson Pastoral Intern ~Spiritual Gifts and the Manifestation of -The Fruit of the Holy Spirit~ Previously, I talked about the utility of work: how it is a source of income and gives us a sense of fulfillment; but more importantly, it is the way for us to use our God given gifts and talents to minister to those in need. Then, I discussed our need to rest, not only for relaxation but in obedience of God's commandment to "Remember the Sabbath day and Keep it Holy (Exodus 20:8)." A day to gather as a church community to worship and praise God! In this article, I would like expound on how we visibly express our spiritual gifts in service to God and the world. It is written that we all have gifts, and that we are to use these gifts to be ambassadors for God- to show His love for the world and bring others closer to Him. It was in the midst of this destruction that still exists nearly eight years after the storm-the Teen Mission Group of New Life Fellowship answered the call to help. With their combined gifts and talents- fueled by compassion, they installed dry walls, flooring, and painted the homes of three individuals-one owner was able to move in before they left to return home to North Carolina. In short, they worked hard and were able to witness the fruit of their labor. This simple act of kindness may seem small to some, but it is one way by which God's love was shown last week. I thank each and every one of you for your prayers of support for the ministry they provided in New Orleans. I am excited to say that we will soon hear more about their experiences during our services on the Fifth Sabbath of August. Therefore; in the meantime, may we praise God for our Spiritual Gifts that produces the fruit of the Holy Spirit and has the power to change everything and g
