On behalf of the Mountain Youth Charities and The Mountain Challenge, we would like to thank the dozens of volunteers and several thousand of our Cashiers area friends that donated so generously during recent Mountain Challenge event.
Our sponsors, United Community Bank and over a dozen other local and regional businesses provided an excellent foundation from which to manage The Mountain Challenge.
From the participation in the Pro-Am on Friday, the Gala Friday night and then the main Challenge event on Saturday, we could not be more pleased with the results – raising over $200,000 for local youth including Blue Ridge School and Summit Charter School.
A special thank you to Andy Roddick and Jim Courier for their active participation in the event. The Cashiers area is fortunate to have someone of Andy Roddick’s stature willing to ‘pay it forward’ and support our local youth.

Battle of Former World #1 Tennis Stars ~ Andy Roddick vs Jim Courier
On Saturday, July 27, 2013, tennis superstars Andy Roddick and Jim Courier will bring star power to the Cedar Creek Racquet Club in Cashiers, North Carolina for The Mountain Challenge Charity Tennis Exhibition. All proceeds raised will benefit at risk youth programs in the Western Carolina area.
The Grounds, Vendor Marketplace and Shuttle Buses open at 9AM. The Preliminary Matches begin at 10AM with two of North Carolina’s best junior boys tennis players: Thai Kwiatkowski of Charlotte and Korey Lovett of Brevard. They will be followed by Andy Roddick and Jim Courier taking on the winners of the local Pro-Am competition. And the headliner match between Roddick and Courier will begin at 11:30AM in a best two-of-three sets match.
Ticketing is limited and can be purchased via the website by clicking on the TICKET SALES link or by calling 1-877-298-8499. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable. In the event of inclement weather the exhibition will be rescheduled.
