With the 2014 edition still being spoken of in hushed tones at the recent club AGM, it’s worth noting that registration for the CTC 2015 Christmas Party is now open.  The plan is as follows:
Date:Saturday 28th November
Venue:  The Blue Haven, Kinsale with pre drinks at Electric in the city from 6pm.  Bus leaves for Kinsale from outside the Imperial @ 7pm.  Should any members be interested in staying down in Kinsale for the night, the Blue Haven are providing discounted rates of €59 for a single to €100-€160 for a double for CTC members.
Cost:  €40 for the meal and drinks and €50 if you’re also availing of the bus up and down.  On the journey home there will be one drop off point in Douglas before arriving in the city.
Plus ones are, of course, welcome to attend also!

Sunday Cycle, 8 Nov
Weather is not much better for Sunday morning.  Rain and strong southerly wind forecast.  You can take the easy option and stay in bed or you can be a badass.  I’ll provide two route options.  Both are a little shorter than last week’s options, taking account of the wind.  The shorter option heads for Kinsale via Carrigaline and Belgooly and clocks in at just over 62km.  The longer option starts the same but instead of turning off for Belgooly it takes in a lap of the Minane Bridge classic race route before turning off and exploring the headland around Summer Cove.  It also takes a slightly different route home via the old Kinsale road.  Take note that the profile for the long route is fairly shark-toothed.  The shorter route has a few hills but overall it’s nice and short and should be very manageable.  Be sure to take conditions into account.  It looks like a rain jacket is a must but perhaps a rear light might be advisable also.  Safety first and always.  On that note, if the forecast worsens between now and Sunday please keep an eye on Facebook for updates.  We won’t cycle in dangerous conditions.
