Ah a wedding… the mere thought of someone getting married has the tendency to spark a whole lot of mixed emotions from the majority of us. Especially, when its our best friend getting married. These emotions usually include bewilderment. What the heck would you want to go and get married for? Followed by anxiety -Who am I going to hang out with now? And eventually, excitement that will, and often does turn to jealousy towards the bride to be. Come on it’s in our body chemistry! The minute we hear of anothers good fortune, we automatically feel that feeling of why isn’t it me? Why does she have to get all the attention? What does she got that I haven’t got? Why aren’t I lucky enough to win the lottery? Why can’t I get the perfect tan? How come I couldn’t find a deal on those pumps in my size? Why can’t I find a great guy that wants to spend the rest of his life with me And so on and so forth until we eventually go out and drown our sorrows in a bottle of tequila, then get inevitably asked to be in the wedding.
The trouble is we get jealous, then we get drunk and then its time to get all dressed to the nines and suffer through the awkward seating arrangements during the ceremony of our best friends nuptials. Often the reception is no better. We usually end up stuck at the dreaded kids table because we are single and dateless. We struggle to stay focused during all the toasts and speeches. We are expected to conduct ourselves in a way that does not in have any embarrassing affects on the bride and to make matters worse, everybody suddenly wants to pay attention to the poor single, dateless girl. Their objective to try their damnedest to fix us up with someone at this shindig we have been attempting to escape from for the last several hours. Drunk again and beaten, we usually comply and end up waking up next to some guy we don’t know, can’t remember and really do not wish to ever see again.  At one particular wedding I went to,  the photographers they hired were kind of a treat. They had us all walk down this red carpet and pose for a few pictures. I finally got the spot light I’ve been waiting for! Well, at least for a few moments.   These are the best Phoenix Wedding Photographers that I’ve seen, and I’m thankful they made everyone feel included.
Often our emotions get us into a whole different realm of ridiculous, which blocks out any and all trains of rational thought from getting through. Our rational selves actually understand that either we have no real desire to meet Mr. Right, get married and settle down just yet, or worse we have already been down that road and took the proverbial plunge. Truth be told, it didn’t work out for us So, try as we may, we have a truly difficult time just being happy for the bride and groom.
