Announcing My New Book, 6 New Sweet Nothings& 3 New Kits
I've have been anxious to tell you about my new book Affectionately Yours, as it has been in the works for a long time. Almost a year ago I was asked to submit a proposal to the Kansas City Star publishing company. Although they are primarily known for their quilting titles, they began publishing cross stitch titles a few years ago. Their publications have the most beautiful photography and layouts, and I was honored to be part of their team. Once the proposal was accepted, I got right to work on the new designs : the charting, stitching and finishing of each of the eleven projects. The theme of the book is 'special occasions', and so I included designs for engagements , bridesmaids, weddings , babies , house warmings, birthdays and anniversaries. The book is 64 pages long and includes not only the designs and the charts, but also the finishing instructions for each project.
The newest leaflets include: French Country Witch, stitched over both one and two threads; Halloween Alphabet ( using all kinds of wonderful Fall colors of course), Miss Mary's Sampler - 1796 - a reproduction on an antique sampler which I bought from a dealer here in Kalamazoo, and three different books with new Christmas ornaments. They are entitled Scandinavian Ornaments I, II and III, and each book has three charts, with designs stitched either over one or two threads. The ornaments over one are so sweet - only about 1 1/4" square. Don't be afraid to try stitching over 'one' on #28 fabric - it is easier than you think to finish an ornament in just one evening.
There are three kits which require no finishing, as each pre-finished item includes the linen. First, there is a 2014 Limited Edition kit, which includes one pre-finished pillow , the buttons , beads and charms and the charts. Select one of the 3 designs to use for your ornament. To finish the design: just fold the edges and secure it to the pillow with little red buttons. The French Floral Bag would be perfect for small stitching projects, as there is a zipper in the back to close the case. You could include a pattern, fibers and a pair of scissors - the best kind of gift for your stitching friends. The French Floral Classes Case is a padded case, perfect for little 'peepers' which we all seem to need these days for needlework and reading.
