Do you feel pressured to "place" your baby for adoption? The purpose of this site is to help mothers of all ages and walks of life who are feeling pressured to "place" their babies for adoption. No matter what your age or financial circumstances, your pregnancy should be celebrated and your motherhood supported. Youth and poverty need not be barriers to being a good mother. ALL mothers have rights to the resources and support they need to keep their babies. Adoption is NOT a "win-win-win" situation. And parenting is not as difficult as you may have been led to believe. As a young expectant parent today in the U.S. or Canada, you'll see a lot of "choose adoption" advertising by adoption agencies, facilitators, or lawyers. They have customers waiting for babies - for YOUR baby. A coalition of adoption agencies and adoptive parents called the National Council for Adoption (NCFA) has even created an "I Choose Adoption" campaign to encourage more mothers to surrender their babies. There is a market for newborn babies, and unfortunately it is a huge (estimated $1.8 billion a year) industry. According to Adoptive Families magazine, demand for babies for adoption outstrips "supply" by 40 to 1. This means there could be up to 40 couples who want your baby. And there are many businesses (adoption agencies, adoption lawyers, and facilitators) set up to make money from people who are desperate enough to pay for them. But, in the face of overwhelming pressure by prospective adopters, baby-brokers, and often their own parents, many young parents are still keeping and raising their babies!
