Why is it after you have hiked five miles in to a campsite on public land you find that nine thousand cows recently camped there?  
Why is it cows camped on public land aren't considered public cows, or as we hunters like to say, slow elk?

McManus Camp Update:
It's the first of March and we are waiting for yet another snowstorm to hit.  The wind chill outside is a chilly -4 °.  It is hard to believe that spring is just around the corner.  Pat says he has been caught in blizzards in the mountains around here as late as June. Of course, I've never heard of that happening to anyone else, but let's face it--if anyone is going to be caught in a blizzard in June, it would definitely be Pat.
Pat & Bun survived their 60th wedding celebration.  They don't like to make a big deal out of things, but I think they enjoyed the lovely party orchestrated by daughter Peggy.  Bun gives you the details in her blog this month.  And Pat returns to discuss a topic he is somewhat of an expert on--MUD.
At the store, we are still posting little odds and ends trying to clean out old inventory at bargain prices.  This is the last year we will have the store, so if you see anything you want, it will probably be your last chance to get it.  We have ordered more hardcover Horse in My Garage, which should shortly be available.  And we are waiting to hear if Tamarack Murders is going to be released in paperback. Pat's last Bo Tully mystery, Circles in the Snow is due out in early June and we will begin taking pre-orders in May.
