About PGM About the Foundation About the Recordings PGM stands as a testament to the late Gabe Wiener’s achievments as an engineer and musicologist. The PGM label released 15 CDs of difficult-to-find music, recorded with an ear for historical accuracy and sonic perfection. Gabe’s passionate restoration of ancient music, sometimes only possible by creating custom equipment and instruments, culminated in the recordings you can find here—all available for online listening and physical purchase. We hope you enjoy the art Gabe has left to us, and we hope the music brings the same richness to your lives that Gabe has to ours. The Wiener family's desire in making these recordings available again was in part to preserve and perpetuate the recorded works of sound engineer and musicologist Gabe Wiener, who unexpectedly passed away in 1997 at the age of 26. During his short recording career, Gabe produced under his own label, PGM (Pro Gloria Musicae) in excess of 17 world class early music recordings, all recognized to be of the of the highest audio quality. These recordings are now part of the Gabe Wiener Foundation. Indiana University Press, Indiana University has published The World of Baroque Music by George Stauffer, which includes two CDs of PGM recordings. The Foundation The Gabe Wiener Foundation was created to celebrate the life of Gabe Wiener (1970-1997) by supporting arts-driven projects with an emphasis in music including the free Prism Concert series at the Central Synagogue in New York. Pro-Audio Mailing List Since 1995, PGM has provided a discussion forum for audio professionals, initially moderated by Gabe Wiener. The "Pro-Audio" list, and a parallel ProAudTech list for more detailed technical discussions, continue today with about 800 participants worldwide. You are welcome to read Gabe's "manifesto" or join the list or read its archives. The Recordings During the brief existence of PGM Recordings, 15 CDs were produced, and material for several others was recorded. This body of work was sufficiently comprehensive that it became the source for all the musical examples used in a textbook by Columbia professor George Stauffer. All of the CDs and the book are available for purchase here. PGM Audio If you'd like to listen to PGM music after you leave this page, you may Launch PGM Player in a new window.
