Network marketing involves bringing others to the table.  Any business opportunity requires the business owner to bring in paying customers.  What makes network marketing different is that the pay scale is structured in a way to reward those who are able to build organizations several levels deep.  Many people confuse this with a pyramid, which is an illegal money circulating scheme.  The pay scale for network marketing is borrowed from multi-level marketing companies, which is one of the positive aspects associated with MLMs.  The negative aspects of MLMs involve what a person has to do to qualify for the income and the risks involved in losing their customers with breakaways.  Network marketing that removes these worries is more attractive but not worry free.  Why?  The reason is that a person has to be able to find customers who can duplicate what the person has done, which is finding customers interested in the business.
When there are products involved and value for the money paid for the product is competitive, the network marketing pay scale can provide a handsome income.  The key to finding a good network marketing business is to find out how money gets into the system.  If the money is coming from membership fees and money invested by the customers you find, it begins to look like a multi-level marketing system or perhaps a just this side of legal Ponzi scheme.  What that means is that the customers are putting money into the system which will only benefit them if they reach down a certain number of levels.  While legal, it is important to see if the business itself is appealing so that people will happily become customers because it makes logical sense to them and benefits them based on the products and services involved themselves.  In other words, the business products or services for which the customer pays upfront or on a monthly basis must have value to them for its own sake, and not just as a business overhead cost. Otherwise, it is likely to just cost you money and you won’t be able to generate a successful downline...each of the customers will hit the same roadblock and it will end with frustration and loss of money.
Pay per piece home based businesses include offsite customer service and telemarketing opportunities.  Sometimes these pay on an hourly basis, but usually the pay is based on the volume of work performed.  Things to watch out for are the cost of equipment, the cost of getting paid (if any), and matching your home computer system with the requirements of the organization.
