    Featuring David Harrelson
Topic: “Indigenous Peoples and Practices of the Greater Yamhill Watershed”
Join David Harrelson, Cultural Resource Manager for the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, for a talk about the Yamhill and Tualatin Kalapuya people. The Kalapuya are the indigenous people of the WIllamette Valley. Their traditions tell them they have been here since time immemorial or a time that no one can remember. Oral traditions recorded in the early 1900’s confirm this is at least as far back as the Missoula FLoods, which inundated the WIllamette Valley under 400 feet of water between 13,000 to 18,000 years ago. Lifeways and practices of these people shaped the very landscape of the Willamette Valley prior to Euro-American Settlement.
