ABCN POSTING SERVICE The American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology, Inc. (formerly The American Board of Qualification in Electroencephalography, Inc.) was founded in 1946 by Herbert Jasper, M.D. It is one of the oldest free-standing Boards for medical certification. The purpose of the Board is to establish and improve standards of knowledge and proficiency in the professional practice of Clinical Neurophysiology. This is accomplished by successful completion of computer-based examinations in the field of Clinical Neurophysiology of the Central Nervous System, covering Electroencephalography (EEG), Evoked Potentials (EP), Polysomnography (PSG), Epilepsy Monitoring, and Neurologic Intraoperative Monitoring (NIOM). The Board grants one or more subspecialty designation and issues a certificate to eligible candidates who have satisfactorily completed both Parts of the examination. Part I - Focuses on a core of knowledge that spans the field of clinical neurophysiology. This will include technical, clinical, and basic knowledge and theory covering central clinical neurophysiology. Part II - Candidates must select at least one track. The questions are likely to be slightly more complex and include more practice based scenarios and samples. Track Options: General Clinical Neurophysiology Epilepsy Monitoring Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring Critical Care EEG Exam Schedule Testing Dates for 2019 ABCN examinations are no longer offered on-demand. Examinations will be offered during two six-week testing windows. May 6 - June 15 Application Deadline March 29, 2019 October 19 - November 30 Application Deadline September 6, 2019 New - ABCN Self-Assessment Program Online Review Questions An unofficial score will be provided at the conclusion of the examination. An official score report will be sent to you within 3 weeks, followed by a certificate or information on retesting. ABPN Subspecialty in Clinical Neurophysiology or Epilepsy Exemption As of 2019, new applicants who have earned certification through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in Clinical Neurophysiology or Epilepsy may submit documentation of this certification and be exempt from taking
