Welcome
I'm the founder of Bay Area House Concerts,
a series of acoustic music parties that take place in various living
rooms and wine tasting rooms around the San Francisco Bay Area and
northern California.  
Since 2001, I've been organizing gatherings that present my favorite songwriters performing unplugged in the best possible listening environment: a private home. 
The inspiration to host house shows came from years of performing my own music in great venues like The Owl &
Monkey Cafe in San Francisco, where I had the chance to hear bands like
Train and Box Set perform acoustic shows for our tiny tribe of music
fanatics. That gave me a taste of what it was like to hear concerts
with a true listening audience. The Owl &
Monkey's amazing vibe attracted a supportive community of like-minded
musicians. The experience there changed my view of what live music
could be. 
Then, about 10 years ago, I began writing for Acoustic Guitar magazine.
One of my assignments was interviewing house concert hosts from all
over the country for an article about the growth of alternative venues.
Not long after that, I began hosting "Porchapalooza"
music parties at my cottage in wine country. My friends brought their
guitars, drums, djembes and ukes and we jammed on my porch under the
stars. 
After years of interviewing many of my songwriting heroes,
I eventually worked up the nerve to ask some of them if they'd be
interested in playing house concerts. To my surprise, they were
enthusiastic about the idea and my series was born. 
In the fall of 2010, I transitioned from hosting and promoting house concerts to curating the series. Basically, that means I introduce musicians to my homeowning friends who are keeping the tradition of living room concerts alive.
